Interreligious meetings of teachers are held every year and the first meeting was organized by the Interreligious Council in BiH, while the second and third were organized by religious communities, the Catholic Church and the Serbian Orthodox Church.
This year’s meeting is organized by the Islamic Community in BiH.
Today’s hosts were Prof. Dr. Friar Ivan Šarćević, Nemanja Đurejnović and Nezir Halilović. They spoke about self-respect and openness towards others and different ones.
Aim of these meetings is to provide an opportunity to socializing and for discussion about current issues and challenges in the field of religious education, as well as to provide opportunities for improvement of cooperation.
“We want to send a message to the citizens of BiH that religious education and teachers of religion are not generators of intolerance but the opposite – that teaching co-existence, morale and traditional values of all community is the foundation of their work,” said Nezir Halilović, representative of the Islamic Community in BiH.
Opening ceremony of the meeting was held on November 25 in the Gazi Husrev-Bey’s Library in Sarajevo, when the two-day discussion on the topic “Opportunities for improvement of cooperation between teachers of religion in BiH” was organized.
The fourth Interreligious meeting of teachers of religion in BiH was closed with today’s visit to religious facilities.
