Temperatures up to 41 Degrees Celsius expected in BiH

In the coming period, more electricity will be consumed through air conditioners, given that a new heat wave is coming. Meteorologists announce that we are done with freshness. Warm nights and even hotter days are coming, with temperatures up to 41 degrees Celsius.

Sunglasses, hats, a bottle of water and lighter clothing are again the main shield in defense against high temperatures. A smaller number of citizens than usual walked along Sarajevo’s famous promenade in the hope of finding a place in the shade for a short break. Everyone has their own recipe for cooling down.

How citizens manage in the heat?

“For God’s sake, we take shelter in the shade, the water, Wilson’s promenade, we go to the swimming pools…”, the citizens say.

“I always shower with very hot water, I only drink tea, everything that others don’t do, I never eat ice cream, and I enjoy nature, the beauty of the sun”, is another answer.

“I bring a hat when needed, I don’t go without it in the strong sun,” says another.

“I use air conditioners, most of the time I don’t even go out when it’s the hottest, in the afternoon when the sun goes down a little,” they also explain.

Air conditioners are a lifesaver for millions of people during extreme heat. They are constantly on, both in closed buildings and in cars.

The fact that in August 2020, the main state operator in California was forced to turn off electricity to hundreds of thousands of households, due to the load, also speaks of dependence when it comes to the use of air conditioners.

As an example, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the regional power outage, due to high consumption during high temperatures. It is predicted that the demand for air conditioners will triple in the next 25 years. Regardless of their harmfulness. However, this is not the only problem citizens face during the summer. Due to the high temperatures, there is traditionally an increasing number of citizens who complain of headaches, sunstroke, diarrhea, stomach virus… In addition to the basic recommendations regarding protection from the sun, doctors also warn about choosing food during the summer months.

Three liters of liquid a day

“Primarily, it is suggested that foods in this period, which are easily perishable, which are at room temperature, and which are now raised by several degrees, at such temperatures, foods spoil, it is suggested that they be stored in refrigerators and at such the way they consume. You have a situation where the average person eats BiH pie for breakfast, but in situations where he works on a construction site at a very high temperature, that food will fall extremely hard on the stomach and cause these symptoms I was talking about”, says Faruk Gutić, medical and biological engineering.

While lighter food, fruits and vegetables, will satiate and hydrate the body. The recommendation should be followed, given that the heat wave is still upon us.

“From next week, we expect an increase in air temperatures, both in the morning and in the maximum daily temperatures. The atmosphere will be somewhat more unstable, but the precipitation that we expect, we do not expect in large quantities”, announces Bakir Krajinović, meteorologist.

The rain won’t cool down much, but it will require sufficient fluid intake. According to doctors, the right measure is three liters of liquid a day, N1 writes.
