The central event of this year’s Day of Mevlud and Zikr was held on Saturday in Blagaj, which again this year gathered several tens of thousands of believers from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
Despite the unfavorable weather conditions, the faithful gathered at Blagaj pilgrimage to attend the traditional mevlud and zikr.
According to the centuries-old tradition, the mevlud in Bosnian and Turkish and the usual zikr translated by Sheikh Cazim Hadzimejlic, the president of the Tariqa Center in our country, were studied by the dervishes of the BiH tekkes and the imams of Mostar.
In the expressions of welcome, Mufti of Mostar Salem ef. Dedovic said that such gatherings strengthen the national and religious unity of the Bosniak people, where believers come to express their love for God and support for their compatriors in Herzegovina.
”In places like this, believers find answers to the meaning of human existence. Here we read, again and again, the lessons that we need to repeat, what is our position and what is the state of our Bosniak people and BiH society,” said the mufti.
He said that at this time they are trying to take away hope from the people, judging that there is an omnipresent social and political crisis within the Bosniak corps.
”It is high time to overcome populist themes because our political factor is being fragmented and devalued. The stability of our country has been greatly eroded because of the secessionist attacks. It is high time to realize that we must come together in unity and togetherness of our country,” emphasized the mufti.
He criticized the ongoing turmoil in society, which, as he pointed out, reaches the level of hatred. Citing Qur‘an verses and hadiths, he urged those present to cultivate patience and tolerance in accordance with the universal principles of Islam.
The tradition of the annual gathering and the annual pilgrimage in Blagaj was maintained until 1925, and the tradition of the Blagaj Mevlud, colloquially known as the Dervish Mevlud, was renewed in 1975.
The “Days of Mevlud and Zikr” are the main annual religious and cultural manifestation of the Mufti Unit of Mostar, in the realization of which, apart from the Mufti Unit, the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Mostar, the Karadjoz-bey madrasah, ”Bosniak cultural community center (BZK) Preporod Mostar”,and the Tariqa center of BiH participate in its implementation.
