At the 11th regular session of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), which was held yesterday in Sarajevo, one of the topics discussed was the procurement of new helicopters for the needs of the Armed Forces of BiH (AFBiH).
As stated in the agenda, the ministers discussed the item on the agenda entitled Proposal of Decision on Amendments to the Decision on the multi-year project of procurement of helicopters for the Ministry of Defense and the AFBiH.
After the discussion, the ministers unanimously adopted this decision, which also unblocked this procurement process.
BiH planned for a long period the procurement of new American helicopters for the needs of the AFBiH.
This decision was withdrawn from the agenda of the Council of Ministers at the end of March, but it was adopted after this session.
In an earlier statement, BiH Defense Minister Zukan Helez said that the Armed Forces will receive modern and multipurpose helicopters.
“We will start with it one hundred percent, American helicopters are coming, more modern and new, which also have combat capabilities, and not like before, which we only had for firefighting and help in times of need. Those helicopters we have, apart from being Russian, are old and unusable,” says Helez.
As stated earlier, the AFBiH should allocate 4.8 million BAM for the procurement of these helicopters, Klix.ba reports.
