The Srebrenica Memorial Center hosted Maxime Prévot, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium, as part of his official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday.
The delegation was welcomed by the Director of the Srebrenica Memorial Center, Emir Suljagić, who presented the work and mission of this institution, with a special focus on preserving the culture of remembrance, documenting the facts and educating about the genocide in Srebrenica.
During the visit, Minister Prévot toured the Genocide Museum, where he was introduced to the permanent exhibition that, through archival materials, testimonies of survivors and personal stories, documents the events that preceded the genocide, the genocide itself, as well as its long-term consequences.
The visit was conducted in the spirit of emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in preserving the truth, strengthening the culture of remembrance and supporting the processes of dealing with the past, and ended with a tribute to the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica, after a meeting with representatives of the women’s associations of Srebrenica and Bratunac.
The Srebrenica Memorial Center expresses its gratitude to Minister Prévot for his visit and interest in the work of the institution, as well as for the continued support of international partners in preserving the memory of the victims of genocide.
