The ITF World Taekwondo Championship ended in Poreč on Saturday, bringing together nearly 2,500 participants from 57 countries around the world.
Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented by 28 competitors in all age categories (pre-juniors, juniors and seniors), and our national team was led by coach Nijaz Džaka and coaches Samir Topić, Nenad Jerinić and Ajdin Salčin.
Our country’s national team won a total of four medals. Melina Ružnić (-61 kg) and Mehmed Krupić (-71 kg) won two junior gold medals, while Lamija Šabović won a bronze medal in the pre-juniors up to 44 kilograms competition.
That the BiH national team has quality and continuous success was confirmed by Ivana Ilić’s bronze medal in the seniors (+75 kg) competition.
It is particularly significant that medals were won in all three age categories, which clearly demonstrates the perspective and strength of our national team, as well as the successful work of coaches and clubs operating within the ITF Taekwondo Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The European Taekwondo Federation (AETF) has shown additional confidence in Bosnia and Herzegovina, awarding the organization of one of the four ranking tournaments in Europe to be organized in Sarajevo at the beginning of next year under the name “Sarajevo Open”.
“We are grateful for the support of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Taekwondo Federation of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who supported the participation of the national team in the World Championship”, said the ITF Taekwondo Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the federation announced.
