The Prosecutor’s Office of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNK) has submitted to the Special Department for the Suppression of Corruption, Organized and Intercantonal Crime of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Federation of BiH (POSKOK) the case regarding the tragedy that occurred in the Jablanica area, when 19 people died, confirmed Ana Rajič, the spokesperson for the Prosecutor’s Office of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.

She stated that numerous expert reports from the mining, geodetic, geological and financial professions were conducted, data was collected from the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute of BiH, as well as other institutions and services, witnesses were heard and all suspects were questioned.

Rajič reminded that the investigation of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton included one legal entity and four natural persons due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offenses of abuse of position or authority in conjunction with the criminal offense of causing general danger, environmental pollution and negligent work in service.

The investigation includes the company “Sani”, which owns the disputed quarry above the settlement of Donja Jablanica, the owner of the company Dženan Honđo, and three cantonal inspectors at the Ministry of Economy of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.

Let us recall that catastrophic floods hit the Herzegovina-Neretva and Central Bosnia Cantons on the night of October 3-4 last year, and the tragedy in Jablanica killed 19 people – 18 in the area of ​​Donja Jablanica and one in the village of Zlate.
