The Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina strongly condemned the move of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Staša Košarac, who sent a World War II military helmet to the High Representative, Christian Schmidt, along with a letter with inflammatory content.
The EU Delegation says that such behavior is unacceptable and contrary to the basic principles of political responsibility.
“We strongly condemn today’s scandalous move by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Staša Košarac, who sent a World War II military helmet to the High Representative, accompanied by a tasteless and inflammatory letter. Such behavior is unacceptable for a public official,” the EU Delegation said.
They called on political leaders to act responsibly and work to calm the situation in the country instead of deepening divisions.
“Political actors have a special responsibility to reduce tensions, not to deepen divisions. We call on all actors to refrain from provocative rhetoric and actions,” they said.
Finally, they emphasized that they expect political representatives to focus their efforts on strengthening stability and prosperity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is in the interest of all citizens.
