On Sunday, July 12th, at 9:30 p.m. at the National Theatre in Sarajevo, La Scala will perform ‘’The Concert for Peace’’.
The Ambassador of Italy to B&H Ruggero Corrias said that with this concert they wish to send the message of peace, to point to the universality of the speech of music and to contribute to the turning of the new page in B&H.
He states that on July 11th the twentieth anniversary of the tragic events in Srebrenica will be marked, but that on July 12th they want to think about tomorrow, i.e. the future of B&H.
The idea was, he points out, to bring the notes of hope and reconciliation with this concert.
‘’All of this would not be possible if the official partner of La Scala, the UniCredit Bank, did not immediately support that idea. Therefore, it can be said that this whole initiative is an example of good cooperation between the private and public institutions”, said Corrias.
The event is taking place under the auspices of the Inter-Religious Council of B&H.
The Ambassador recalled that La Scala performed in Sarajevo back in 1997 in Skenderija that could accommodate a large number of visitors. Back then, the problem was the acoustics of the hall. For this reason they decided to make a concert at the National Theatre in Sarajevo, but still they want as many people as possible to get the opportunity to listen to this concert.
‘’That is why, in cooperation with the Inter-Religious Council, we decided to install large LED screens in the city that will, except in front of the National Theater, be set up in front of four more historical-religious objects, precisely the Orthodox Cathedral, Catholic Cathedral, at the square at Sebilj, and in front of the Old Jewish Temple’’, said the Ambassador of Italy to B&H.
