The FBiH Government supported the Miners: 180 Miners cannot work for 800 Employees

Yesterday, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) issued an order to Elektroprivreda BiH (EPBiH) to act in accordance with the current agreement between the Trade Union and the Zenica Brown Coal Mine and to pay the wages to the miners, this is the epilogue of the meeting of representatives of mining unions and representatives of the FBiH Government.

This information was confirmed by the president of the Independent Trade Union of Miners in FBiH, Sinan Husic, who said that they had just attended a meeting where they explained the reasons for going on strike, but also proposed a signed Agreement.

“We explained why we signed the Agreement between the Zenica Brown Coal Mine and the Trade Union, and the Government of the FBiH passed a conclusion ordering the management of the EPBiH to act in accordance with the Agreement and to implement it. Additionally, we asked for a report on the response from the EPBiH related to the order issued by the end of the day,” said Husic yesterday.

He added that the miners will remain in the pit until the order issued to EPBiH demanding compliance with the Agreement is implemented and that the Union will plan further activities in accordance with that response.

Husic also said that at yesterday’s meeting, a reorganization of the mine was requested in terms of human resources, where 180 miners, who are underground, cannot work for a total of 830 employees.

“Yesterday, during my three-hour stay with these miners underground, I saw a great desire, a positive side, how they accept the situation they are in in a responsible manner, and I saw that there are elements for workers’ struggle in the Zenica Brown Coal Mine. The majority of workers believe that we need to reorganize the mine according to the human resources plan because 180 people in production cannot carry a company with 830 employees on their backs,” Husic stated and added:

“Some things have to change and that’s what we said. That process has to start immediately, some things have to change in the next few days however you comment on this.”

Last night it was announced whether the EPBiH will comply with the order issued by the FBiH Government and whether the miners would leave the pit premises of the Raspotocje plant, Klix.ba reports.
