Last night in Taranto, on Flag Square, a solemn ceremony of raising the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held in the Mediteranski village, on the eve of the XX Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026.
The ceremony was attended by the Secretary General of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina Antonio Tomić, Head of the BiH Mission Said Fazlagić, Deputy Head of the Mission Dejana Planinčić and delegation member Lana Grgić, as well as representatives of BiH athletes who will represent Bosnia and Herzegovina in volleyball, boxing, bocce, cycling and swimming.
On behalf of the hosts, Alessia Maurelli, head of the Mediterranean village, addressed the attendees, who welcomed the delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Italy and Taranto, with a message that she wished the athletes an unforgettable Games filled with respect and friendship.
The ceremony was completed by singing the national anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina, symbolically marking the presence of Bosnia and Herzegovina at this year’s Mediterranean Games.
The ceremony was followed by an exchange of gifts between the head of the Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Said Fazlagić, and representatives of the hosts.
The welcome in the Mediterranean village took place in the spirit of friendship, respect and togetherness, values that connect athletes and delegations from the Mediterranean countries.
The delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has a total of 111 members, of which 76 are athletes, 25 coaches and members of the medical staff, and six BiH judges who will administer justice at the Mediterranean Games. The operative and media team consists of four employees of OK BiH.
