The French Government has ordered Governors to increase security at Mosques during Ramadan

French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin has ordered governors to take all measures to guarantee the safety of mosques in France during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Minister Darmanin announced on the X social network that the number of Muslim believers who come to mosques during the month of Ramadan will increase significantly. He added that he instructed the governors to ensure the security of mosques throughout the state during this period.

On February 26, Darmanin stated that 242 anti-Muslim incidents were recorded in the country in 2023, noting that this was 30 percent more than the previous year.

Stating that this situation is completely unacceptable, Darmanin said that the Association for Defense Against Discrimination and Anti-Muslim Activities (ADDAM) will be established.

Darmanin announced that the existing fund would be doubled to increase the security of Muslim places of worship in France.
