The presidents of the ruling political parties in the Republika Srpska will today make the final decision on participation in the October local elections.
This was announced by representatives of several political parties after a meeting called by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Nenad Stevandić.
As they announced, representatives of the Party of Democratic Progress, the Serbian Democratic Party, the List for Justice and Order and the People’s Front did not come to yesterday’s meeting.
The president of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, Milorad Dodik, accused these four opposition political parties of being “traitors, of working for Christian Schmidt who imposed changes to the Election Law of BiH and for the Central Election Commission of BiH, which wants to interfere with the electoral will”.
“We will decide by tomorrow whether we will participate in the elections. It is my personal decision not to go, but I will also listen to different opinions in my own ranks. The decision is difficult, very responsible and we will choose the least evil for Republika Srpska,” said Dodik.
After the high representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt, who is not recognized by the authorities in the RS, imposed changes to the Election Law of BiH, the RS National Assembly adopted the Election Law of the RS at the proposal of the SNSD Deputies Club. However, representatives of the Bosniak people in the RS People’s Council initiated a veto, which is why the law cannot enter into force.
Previously, the CEC announced elections, and the deadline for registration is May 24. On Thursday, representatives of the ruling coalition in the RS called on the opposition to jointly boycott the elections, which was rejected by the four political parties, Fena writes.
