The Head of the U.S. Secret Service resigned: Increasing Pressure due to the recent Assassination of Trump?

The director of the United States (U.S.) Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, has resigned amid an investigation into security breaches related to the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, CNN reports citing its sources.

The move comes after the U.S. Secret Service admitted to an intelligence failure in the recent assassination of Trump.

There have already been bipartisan calls for her resignation in Congress, where they were particularly angry after she appeared in public testimony before the House Oversight Committee on Monday, where she refused to answer many of the committee’s questions.

During her appearance on House Oversight, Cheatle acknowledged there were “significant” and “colossal” security problems at the rally, but still rejected calls for her resignation.

“I think I’m the best person to run the Secret Service at this time,” Cheatle said on Monday. It seems that there have been certain changes, or pressures.

House Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters the resignation was “overdue.”

Namely, she was appointed head of the secret service by Joe Biden, Klix.ba writes.
