Today the High Representative Christian Schmidt visited the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina and spoke with the governor dr. Jasmin Selimović.
During the conversation, the High Representative expressed the full and unequivocal support of the Office of the High Representative to the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, stressing that the stability and independence of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina are in the interest of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the country as a whole.
Governor Selimović thanked the international community for the support of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina and emphasized that the role of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the process of European integration, especially in the case of the opening of negotiations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union, is extremely important. The governor particularly emphasized the project of including Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Single Euro Payment Area (SEPA), which includes the countries of the Western Balkans, and for which the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina has the support of the EU. In this process, the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina continuously conducts activities on the preparation and construction of the necessary infrastructure and participates in all activities with other institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
