The House from “Home Alone” sold for over Five Million Dollars

The house from the iconic movie Home Alone was sold during the holiday season for more than five million dollars.

This is the house whose exterior was used to depict the McCallister family home in the 1990s films Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. It remains largely the same as it appeared during filming.

Located in Illinois, the house was listed for 5.250.000 dollars in May, and the listing now shows that someone paid that amount. The property features five bedrooms and six bathrooms, was built in 1921, and underwent renovations in 2018.

The staircase, dining room, and living room have been preserved in their original form and structure, while a sunlit family room is a new addition to the estate. The kitchen boasts a double island, and the house includes a fireplace. The property also features a threecar garage and a terrace leading to the backyard. Upstairs, the master bedroom includes a fireplace, a large walk-in closet, and a marble jacuzzi tub. The house even has an indoor sports court.

The estate is located in Winnetka, Chicago, and the listing received over 70.000 views.

However, the interior looks entirely different from what was seen in the films.

Today, 44-year-old actor Macaulay Culkin, who played the boy Kevin in the movies, considered buying the house but ultimately decided against it. His idea was to turn it into a fun house where people could sled down the staircase, just as Kevin did in the movie.

“I have kids and a lot of work,” Culkin explained as the reasons for not purchasing the house.

The actor has two sons, Carson and Dakota, with actress Brenda Song. When watching the movie, Carson thought he was Kevin rather than his father.

“He thinks he’s Kevin. I asked him if he remembered sledding down the stairs, and he said he did. I also asked him if he remembered having blonde hair, and he answered yes,” Culkin shared.

The boy also said he remembered the burglars who tried to break into the house, which led his father to “bring him back to reality,” telling him he was a little “liar.”, Klix.ba writes.
