A military spokesman for Yemen’s Houthis said the group attacked Tel Aviv with a drone and would continue to target Israel in solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza war.
The spokesman said Tel Aviv would remain a primary target for the group “within the range of our weapons”.
The group claims to have launched a drone that can bypass radar detection systems. The IDF says its initial investigation showed the drone was detected by air defenses but not shot down due to human error
According to the Israeli Air Force’s initial investigation into the overnight drone attack on Tel Aviv, the explosive-laden drone was identified, but due to human error, the anti-aircraft missile failed to engage it.
Since no action was taken against the identified target – now confirmed to be a large long-range drone – no warning sirens sounded.
The drone directly hit an apartment in Tel Aviv at 3:12 a.m. after entering the city from the sea.
Also overnight, a drone heading towards Israel from the east, possibly originating from Iraq, was shot down by fighter jets outside Israeli airspace.
The IDF also said that this fatal incident should not have happened and that they take full responsibility for the failure that led to the fatal attack, Klix.ba writes.
