The Israel Defense Forces announced that they targeted the southern part of Beirut and that the target was a Hezbollah commander they claim was responsible for a recent rocket attack on the occupied Golan Heights.
“The IDF conducted a targeted attack in Beirut, against the commander responsible for the killing of children in Majdal Shams and the killing of numerous additional Israeli civilians. There are currently no changes to the Front Command’s defense guidance. If any changes are made, an update will be issued,” the IDF said. .
The Israeli media write that the target of the attack was “Haj Mohsen”, the commander and the main “brain” of Hezbollah’s rocket plant. He is also called Hezbollah’s “number two” right after the leader of this movement, Hassan Nasrallah.
The Israeli forces have been announcing for several days that they will carry out a series of attacks on Hezbollah positions, especially after the attack on the Golan Heights, which Tel Aviv blamed on Hezbollah, in which twelve children died on the soccer field.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier vowed that the Lebanese group would “pay a heavy price” after the deadly attack on a soccer field in a remote town in the occupied Golan Heights, Klix.ba writes.
Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant made a brief statement following an attack by the Israeli Air Force on the southern suburbs of Beirut, which is considered a Hezbollah stronghold.
“Hezbollah has crossed a red line,” Gallant wrote in Hebrew on Twitter. The Israeli military has claimed responsibility for an attack that reportedly targeted a Hezbollah commander responsible for an attack that killed 12 civilians in the occupied Golan Heights.
Hezbollah has denied responsibility for this attack, but Israel and the US have repeatedly emphasized that they hold it responsible.
