The Israeli army on Thursday ordered residents of a neighborhood in Gaza City to evacuate immediately due to the incursion of its military forces into the area.
“To all locals and displaced people in the Shuja’iya area, in the settlements of Turkmenim and Al-Tuffah, for your safety, we say that you must immediately evacuate south along Salah al-Din Street to the humanitarian zone,” the press release read by Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee.
Palestinian security sources told Xinhua that Israeli military vehicles entered the Shuja’iya settlement, which is east of Gaza City, amid heavy artillery and airstrikes, prompting thousands of residents to flee the area.
The Civil Protection Service in Gaza said in a brief statement that its teams were unable to reach some of those killed and wounded in the Shuja’iya neighborhood after the bombing.
