Franz Beckenbauer, who died on January 7 at the age of 78, will have his bronze statue on top of the plateau leading to the Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich’s stadium.
The Kurt Landauer Foundation announced today that the realization of the Beckenbauer project will take about 18 months.
The legendary football player of Germany and Bayern Munich, Franz Beckenbauer, died at the beginning of this year at the age of 78. According to the German media, Beckenbauer was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, which significantly worsened.
Beckenbauer won the World Cup with Germany as a player in 1974 and then as a coach in 1990.
In addition to success at club and international level, he is one of nine players to have won the FIFA World Cup, the European Champions Cup and the Ballon d’Or, AA writes.
