Taste Atlas presented a list of the 100 best traditional dishes in the world for the past year, and cevapi were the best from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Based on reviews and an average rating of 4.53, cevapi took the 64th position on the list.
The website Taste Atlas, which is an online guide to traditional food, published a list of the best traditional dishes for 2022, and one dish from BiH was on the list – cevapi. Also, overall BiH cuisine took 38th place out of a total of 95 on the list.
Taste Atlas contains a database of more than 15.000 traditional dishes and local food products. The ranking is based on over 100.000 user ratings. This year, Japanese Kare was declared the best traditional dish in the world, with an average rating of 4.92.
It is followed by the Brazilian Picanha steak with a rating of 4.86, while the third place on the list was taken by a traditional dish from Lisbon called Ameijoas a Bulhao Pato, also with an average rating of 4.86.
Compared to this, cevapi in the 64th position had an average rating of 4.53, and Taste Atlas states that they are the best at the National restaurant Tima-Irma’s located in Mostar.
When it comes to the countries of the region, Serbia has its ”representative” on the list. In the penultimate place, i.e. 99th position, ”Pljeskavica” (burger patty) was singled out as the best traditional dish of the neighbors.
The Serbian Pljeskavica has an average rating of 4.47, and it is ahead of the Chinese Shumai dumplings, which have the same rating. It is further stated that you can try the best Pljeskavica at the Toster Bar located in Novi Sad.
The list includes different types of pizza, and when it comes to dishes that are close to our traditional cuisine, there are several examples from Turkey. For example, Shish kebab, which is often eaten in BiH, took the 14th place, and Turkish Manti in the 22nd place with an average rating of 4.67.
To recall, Taste Atlas recently presented a list of the ten worst-rated dishes from BiH, and the first three positions were occupied by Buranija, Kadaif, and Popara. This list also includes some surprising dishes such as Hurmasica and Begova Corba (Bey’s Soup), Klix.ba reports.
