The mayor of Trnovo, Ibro Berilo, was released tonight, after the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo rejected the Canton Sarajevo Prosecutor’s Office’s proposal to extend the detention. Berilo has been given measures of prohibition from performing the function of chief and meeting with suspects in the Incitat case, his lawyer Senad Pizović confirmed for BHRT.
“In my opinion, there is no basis for this additional measure of prohibition. We will file an appeal and I expect that these measures will be lifted,” said lawyer Pizović. Ibro Berilo has been banned from holding office, which means that, even though he won a new mayoral mandate in Trnovo in this year’s local elections, he will not be able to hold that office.
“Until the final decision of the Supreme Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ibro Berilo cannot perform the function of the mayor of Trnovo”, stressed lawyer Pizović.
Today, a session of the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo was held, which accepted the appeal of Berilo’s defense and canceled the detention, and rejected the proposal of the CS Prosecutor’s Office that he In the local elections held on October 6, Berilo was again elected mayor of the Municipality of Trnovo.
