A meeting between Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump could be held on August 11, potentially in Rome, Fox News reported, citing sources.

However, a source told TASS that Rome is not an option as a venue.

“Not Europe. Europe will not be suitable as a meeting venue,” the source said.

Russian presidential adviser Yuri Ushakov said yesterday that Moscow and Washington had agreed to hold a leaders’ meeting in the coming days. The parties are targeting next week for the meeting, but the exact date of the summit will be determined based on the results of preparations.

The plan for the summit came after a visit by US special envoy Steven Witkoff to Moscow on August 6, where he spoke with the Russian leader for about three hours, the Russian state news agency TASS reported.
