Yesterday, at the telephone session held by the Federal Government, the Decision that the minimum salary for the period from January 1st to December 31st, 2022 is determined in the net amount of 543 BAM was passed.
In this way, according to earlier promises and announcements, the minimum salary was increased, which from January 1st, 2022 amounts to 543 BAM, and is higher than the previous amount by 136 BAM or 33.56 percent.
In addition to the monthly salary, most workers in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) are also entitled to non-taxable benefits such as meal allowance, transportation, and an end-of-year bonus, making the FBiH unique in Europe. These benefits average 174 BAM per employee, so an increase in the minimum wage guarantees a total income that is significantly higher than the minimum wage and which will be at least 717 BAM per month for most workers.
Furthermore, the new regulations now guarantee that the minimum wages will be adjusted annually depending on the growth of the economy and prices, starting from 2023.
”After the Parliament of the FBiH adopts new fiscal laws, preconditions will be created for even higher growth of the minimum wage without harmful consequences for the economy and employment, ” it was announced by the Public Relations Office of the Government of the FBiH.
