Members of the Jablanica Mountain Rescue Service rescued three young mountaineers who got lost on their way to the Plasa mountain hut (Čvrsnica), due to a landslide that destroyed part of the trail.
They received a call for help yesterday, and the two mountaineers are citizens of the United States of America and one is a citizen of Pakistan.
Using coordinates, the Jablanica GSS team located them, and since the mountaineers had communication equipment, extra batteries and food, this made it easier for them to wait for help.
Immediately after receiving the call, the rescuers set off and reached the lost mountaineers a little after 10 pm, performed an initial check and ensured their safety, after which they safely returned them to Jablanica.
The operation ended at 11:30 pm with a return to base.
“Although these young mountaineers had some preparation, unforeseen situations are always possible. Before leaving for the mountain, check the condition of the trails, weather conditions and ensure the basic equipment – means of communication, extra batteries, food and clothing adapted to the weather conditions. The mountain does not forgive mistakes, but responsible preparation can save a life,” said the GSS.
