Although Labor Party leader Keir Starmer became the new Prime Minister of Great Britain two days ago, his political background goes much further back in history.
Among numerous political issues, certainly one of those that stands out is Starmer’s attitude towards Bosnia and Herzegovina(BiH).
Through his work and activities, Starmer devoted himself to the commemoration of the anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica and always spoke with special reverence about the victims.
“The murders in Srebrenica, described by the United Nations(UN) as the worst crime on European soil since World War II, claimed the lives of over 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys. That must never be forgotten,” Starmer said.
In one of the reviews on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, Starmer said that anger and agony must be used to find courage and to say that such a crime must never be repeated.
“We have a moral obligation to speak out and act whenever and wherever people are targeted based on their religion or race. If you don’t, hatred will only flourish. So let’s use this day and the memory of Srebrenica not only to remember those we lost, but also to educate our future generations, bring our communities together and renew our efforts to fight hatred and prejudice wherever they lie,” Starmer said, Klix.ba writes.
