As of today, the Sarajevo Canton Police has 76 new official motor vehicles, the procurement of which is part of the strategic planning of strengthening and capacity-building of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior Police Department through increasing the material and technical equipment and operational efficiency of police officers.

Analyzing the current situation and using a strategic approach in planning the work of the Police Department of the MoI of Sarajevo Canton, Minister of Internal Affairs Admir Katica and Police Commissioner Fatmir Hajdarević last year proposed to the Government of Sarajevo Canton to allocate funds for the renewal of the vehicle fleet of the Police Department of the MoI of CS, in order to a reduction in repair and maintenance costs of old vehicles was achieved. Elaboration on the economic justification of the purchase of new motor vehicles, it was determined that the largest part of the police fleet consists of vehicles that are 5 years old and older, and some patrol vehicles have traveled more than 300,000 kilometers.

After the Sarajevo Canton Government made a decision on the allocation of funds for new vehicles, public procurement procedures were initiated, and the procurement of the following vehicles was completed: Toyota Land Cruiser (5 vehicles), Toyota Corolla Sedan (8 vehicles), Škoda Octavia (9 vehicles), VW Golf VIII (46 vehicles), VW ID.3 (1 vehicle), VW Caddy (7 vehicles).

“The road to the realization of our strategic goals is often tiring, long and difficult, but day by day we witness how these goals are achieved and how we build a strong police that citizens can trust and have confidence in,” said Minister Katica and added that he is happy that today they are handing over 76 new vehicles to police officers that will enable them to work better and operate more efficiently.

“Very soon, in the same way, we will present the special armored vehicles that we procure for our police, as well as body cameras. My personal goal, which I will not give up on, is that our police officers have new police uniforms as soon as possible, and I will do my best to solve all the administrative difficulties that the Police Directorate has in the way of implementing that procurement. The police must not miss anything,” Minister Katica said.

According to Police Commissioner Fatmir Hajdarević, the new vehicles will also contribute to greater safety of police officers.

“The project of continuous improvement of the material and technical capacities of the Sarajevo Canton police aims to ensure the necessary prerequisites for the successful execution of tasks and tasks under the jurisdiction of the uniformed and criminal police. The new official vehicles will contribute to the greater safety of police officers during the execution of tasks within their jurisdiction, and at the same time will significantly reduce maintenance and repair costs, especially if we take into account that police vehicles are in operation 24 hours a day,” said Police Commissioner Fatmir Hajdarević.

In previous years, there were no major procurements of official vehicles for the needs of the Police Department of the MoI of Sarajevo Canton. In the period from 2018-2022, a total of 30 motor vehicles, three mopeds and five motorcycles were acquired, announced the Protocol and Press Service of Canton Sarajevo.
