The working team in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), chaired by the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Kristo, has agreed upon the Reform Agenda with qualitative/quantitative steps for the implementation of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.

The Reform Agenda approved by the Working Team is almost entirely aligned with the proposals of the European Commission, with over 97 percent of reform activities being aligned with representatives of the European Commission and the European Union (EU) Delegation in BiH.

The Directorate for Economic Planning of the Council of Ministers of BiH forwarded the agreed Reform Agenda to the European Commission yesterday, in order to fulfill this ambitious plan from 2024 to 2027 according to the agreed timeline.

The adoption of the Reform Agenda for the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans will enable BiH to receive around one billion euros from the European Commission to support reforms in various areas. The goal is to facilitate stronger economic growth, ensure the rule of law, and more functional institutions, as well as to strengthen the business climate and preserve human resources in BiH. Simultaneously, the reforms are aimed at creating conditions for ensuring sustainable (green) energy, digital transition, and better IT infrastructure, including enhancing cyber security.

The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Kristo, thanked the members of the Working Team in BiH and the Delegation of the EU in BiH for their dedicated work during the harmonization of the reform agenda. She emphasized that representatives of all levels of government in BiH are involved in the Working Team, demonstrating determination and commitment to the European path and constructive internal dialogue for the benefit of all in BiH.

It is worth noting that earlier, the European Commission presented a Growth Plan for the Western Balkans worth six billion euros for the period from 2024 to 2027, which would allow countries in the region to significantly accelerate the enlargement process and economic growth by intensifying reforms.
