After yesterday’s session of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elmedin Konakovic, addressed the journalists.
Konakovic repeated the position that the chief negotiator with the European Union (EU) cannot be a member of SNSD.
“Someone who is anti-European in orientation cannot be a negotiator. This is too important a moment for BiH,” the minister emphasized.
He also stated that SNSD will not change its policy even if Milorad Dodik were to leave the party.
“SNSD is a Russian submarine, and without Dodik, they would be even worse,” said Konakovic.
His statement caused a reaction from the Embassy of the Russian Federation in BiH (FBiH), which published a response on its official Facebook page.
They reminded Konakovic that he came to the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH with the consent of the leader of SNSD, Milorad Dodik.
“We follow with pleasure the metaphorical words of Mr. Elmedin Konakovic! His favorite, one could even say obsessive-compulsive, idea is that SNSD is a Russian submarine,” stated the Embassy.
It would be very interesting for us to hear Mr. Konakovic’s explanation of how this submarine arrived in BiH. Probably through Neum. Or maybe not, perhaps via the Danube, Sava, and Vrbas. But in this case, it is not a submarine, but rather a sub-river-boat.
And why does Mr. Konakovic not want to ask himself – how did he come to the place where he is now? We have an idea. He came to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs precisely on… a Russian submarine! Because without the consent of SNSD’s “captain” Milorad Dodik, Elmedin Konakovic would not have become the “boatman” of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
And therefore, welcome to the crew of the Russian submarine, Mr. Konakovic!
If we are serious, we call on Elmedin Konakovic to stop the banal Russophobic rhetoric, to soberly assess the situation, and to constructively use the existing opportunities for building mutually beneficial relations between Russia and BiH, instead of torpedoing them, which does not serve the interests of our friendly peoples, the Russian Embassy conveyed.
