The strengthening of the Sarajevo Canton police continues with the acquisition of the most modern vehicles, equipment and material and technical means.
By starting the public procurement procedure for three more special armored vehicles, with a total value of 3.9 million convertible marks (without VAT), the process of strengthening the MUP of Sarajevo Canton with special armored vehicles intended for a wide range of operations continued.
In the big parade held last week on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the mobilization of the RBiH reserve police, the MUP of Sarajevo Canton participated with seven special armored vehicles, while three more are in the delivery phase. By concluding a new procurement for three more special vehicles, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton will have a total of 13 available.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Canton of Sarajevo, Admir Katica, reminded that more than 70 million BAM was invested in equipping the police in the Canton of Sarajevo, which today is stronger and better equipped than it has ever been in the last 25 years.
“Our police force now has strength and armor that protects it. We have seven, and eventually there will be 13 special armored vehicles. It’s not just steel, it’s also a message that Sarajevo is no longer an easy target. Anyone who goes against the law will hit the wall we built,” Minister Katica said.
Special armored vehicles are intended for a wide range of operations, and their key role includes patrol and reconnaissance missions, command, transport, and support of special operations units. They can transport up to ten specially equipped police officers, making them indispensable in situations that require fast and safe transport, and serve as a means of establishing barricades in crisis situations.
These vehicles are also essential in special operations that require top technical performance and resistance to different weather conditions. Vehicles also serve to protect the safety of citizens, buildings and other assets in the event of a general danger or threat to public order and peace on a larger scale, as well as in cases of terrorist and other violent acts.
The segment of providing assistance in the security of public gatherings, as well as in the implementation of measures and actions on the plan of general prevention, is particularly significant, as well as the possibility that these vehicles can be of assistance to other police agencies as well, the Cabinet of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton announced.
