Poste Srpske has suspended the acceptance of all types of postal shipments to the United States (U.S.), except express mail shipments in international traffic (DHL shipments). “The temporary suspension of acceptance of shipments to the U.S. is the consequence of the change in U.S. customs and tariff rules that come into force on August 29th, 2025, which abolishes the current “de minimis” threshold for the import of postal shipments whose content is goods. Until now, this threshold allowed shipments of lower value (up to 800 dollars) to undergo a simplified customs inspection and not be subject to the payment of customs duties. Now customs and other duties must be calculated and paid for all goods, regardless of value, before the shipment arrives in the U.S., i.e., the sender pays in advance, which significantly changes the procedure of acceptance in the country of origin,” stated Poste Srpske.
As they emphasize, since the detailed processes regarding the manner of payment of customs duties and the data that need to be provided to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection are not clearly defined, postal operators throughout Europe and the world have been put in the position to temporarily suspend the acceptance of shipments to the U.S.
They stated that users will be informed in a timely manner about all future changes related to the acceptance of shipments to the U.S.
Also, the company BH Posta informed its users that as of today, they are temporarily suspending the acceptance of all types of international postal shipments addressed to recipients in the territory of the U.S. at the counters of the Public Enterprise BH Posta.
“We also inform you that, due to the impossibility of applying the implementing regulations of the U.S., partner air carriers have temporarily suspended the transport of all types of international postal shipments to the U.S.
We emphasize that BH Posta, like other postal operators, is making efforts to find a solution that will enable the re-establishment of postal traffic and the acceptance of postal shipments to the U.S.,” BH Posta stated.
