The Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board plans to invest in air traffic among the most important projects in 2025, all with the aim of developing and improving tourism in the Sarajevo Canton.
“According to the financial plan of the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board, 3.5 million BAM will be invested in co-financing airlines, which is the largest investment compared to all other projects in the business year 2025,” confirmed Haris Fazagić, President of the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board.
So far, investments in air traffic, as he said, amount to more than 1 million 268 thousand BAM, and were implemented during 2024 through subsidy programs through public calls.
During this year, Sarajevo will be connected to at least 39 locations in the world, and 28 different airlines will perform air operations.
Flights are arranged towards major centers of European countries from which most tourists come, such as Turkey, Germany, Austria, Italy, Great Britain, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, and neighboring Serbia and Croatia.
The dynamics of air connections have followed the interest in our tourist destination, so we are also introducing direct flights to numerous Asian cities to which it is possible to fly from Sarajevo, such as Kuwait, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, Sharjah and Manama, according to a statement from the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board.
“The program of co-financing of avioletov is being implemented with the Sarajevo International Airport, the Government of the Sarajevo Canton and the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Economy, and the results of the investments so far are already visible in the increased arrival of tourists to the Canton, the connection of the Sarajevo Canton with the world has been further improved, seasonality has been reduced, and more affordable travel options have been provided to tourists, which ultimately means profit in several segments of this currently most promising branch of the economy in the Sarajevo Canton,” it was announced.
