The US Senate adopted a resolution prohibiting the use of armed forces against Venezuela.

The resolution was adopted with 52 votes “for” and 47 “against”.

On January 3, the USA launched an attack on Venezuela and captured President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Silija Flores, after which they were taken to New York.

US President Donald Trump said Maduro and Flores would face trial for involvement in “narco-terrorism” and threats to the US.

Russia, China and North Korea strongly condemned the US actions. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed solidarity with the Venezuelan people and called for the release of Maduro and his wife, as well as for the prevention of further escalation of the situation.
