The Workers saved the Hospital in BiH City with their Wages

These days, the general hospital in Sanski Most is marking 15 years since the beginning of its work, and during that period it was faced with numerous economic problems that threatened to shut down the health institution on several occasions.

However, according to Mustafa Avdagić, the director of the hospital, there are better days ahead of them, and in the next three years they will invest millions in improving the quality of health services, Nezavisne writes.

Avdagić points out that these are financial resources from the program of consolidation of health institutions, which is implemented by the FBiH Government.

“According to that program, in the next three years we will receive three million marks, and we will use this money to modernize and purchase new medical equipment and devices. We intend to buy a CT machine, a gastroscope, a colonoscope, we will renovate the complete Gynecology, boiler room, laundry room and, most importantly, we are trying to arrange to build a new Department of Geriatrics. If we succeed in all of this, we will significantly improve the quality of our medical services,” Avdagić pointed out.

He added that the acquisition of a CT machine imposes itself as a special imperative considering that they do not have one, so patients who need this type of health services are sent for examination to the Cantonal Hospital in Bihać.

All this makes treatment more expensive and complicates the situation, because appointments are waited for a month or more, and in recent years there have been frequent breakdowns of CT machines in Bihać, so patients are forced to rely on private health institutions.

According to Avdagić, the acquisition of the mentioned device will also have a significant economic effect.

Also, the good news for the hospital is that the problem of its financing by the USK Health Insurance Institute, which has been present since its establishment, has finally been resolved, so employees have been voluntarily giving up part of their personal income for the past 15 years so that the institution can survive.

“It was thanks to that sacrifice that we managed to survive. Finally, now our workers will have the same income as their colleagues from other health institutions”, Avdagić pointed out.

The general hospital in Sanski Most was established due to the great distance from the Cantonal Hospital in Bihać, so that patients could be provided timely and efficient service.

As part of it, six departments successfully exist and operate and employ 92 workers, and like other medical institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it too is faced with the departure of medical personnel.

This problem is replaced by the contractual engagement of the necessary personnel who are employed in other health institutions.

About how much the hospital means to Sanski Most and Ključ is also evidenced by the fact that on an annual basis, around 300 major and minor surgical procedures are performed there, thus saving a large number of human lives.
