Kansai International Airport in Japan has won the Skytrax award for the world’s best airport for baggage delivery in 2024.
“We believe that our achievement of not having lost a single bag since the airport opened is the result of the daily efforts and careful work of all employees, including airlines and baggage transportation companies,” they stated in a press release.
This airport began operations in 1994 and serves 20 to 30 million passengers annually.
The award is based on the assessment of waiting times before baggage retrieval, the efficiency of baggage delivery, and the response to lost luggage. As reported by a Japanese news agency, Kansai International Airport has handled approximately 10 million pieces of luggage.
The secret to their success lies in “layered” work on inspections. Two or three officials are responsible for assessing the type and number of bags for each aircraft, as well as gathering information about passenger transit, Klix.ba reports.
