About the problems that BH caused floods to farmers, what kind of year awaits us and whether we should worry about dark forecasts – Nedžad Bićo, president of the Association of Farmers of the Federation, spoke to Dnevnik 2.
“We say that every year is difficult, but this year is one of the most difficult,” said Bićo. It is June – the sowing is not yet finished, what has been sown – rots in the ground from excess moisture.
The primary producer does not participate in the price of food, notes Bićo – they depend on buyers, processors, industry: “As much as they offer, you have to give it to you in order not to throw it away – and that’s always a mess”.
It is predicted that “yellow rust” will reduce the grain yield by 40 percent, Bićo points out – and this is all sown in autumn at significantly higher prices for everything. Minus per hectare will be 300 to 500 marks at the very beginning, he adds, because cheap wheat comes from Ukraine.
“I understand that there was a change of government, but in these situations, you need to act immediately,” says Bićo – because everything collapses.
