“To Truly Return to the European Path, Attacks on BiH’s Constitutional Order Must Stop”

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović spoke in the Senate building of the Republic of France with Senator Rachid Temal, Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces.

Bećirović thanked the Republic of France for its continued support for Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in the context of security and stability, as well as support for the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of our country. The importance of cooperation in the processes of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s accession to the European Union (EU) and NATO was underlined, as well as support in the process of implementing reforms that enable progress on this path.

“The Member of the Presidency of BiH said that the reform processes were blocked due to the anti-constitutional actions of the authorities of the BiH entity of RS. Bećirović emphasized that stopping the attacks on the constitutional order of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and respecting the rule of law are key to a true return to the Euro-Atlantic and European path, because only in this way can stable and functional institutions that meet EU and NATO standards be built,” Bećirović’s Cabinet announced.

As part of the talks on strengthening the overall bilateral cooperation between the two countries, the initiative to establish and operate the French Development Agency in Bosnia and Herzegovina was also welcomed.

Bećirović stressed that good political relations between the two countries represent a solid foundation for expanding economic cooperation, and expressed gratitude to France for its readiness to specifically support development projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina through the work of this agency.

Senator Temal said that the Republic of France firmly supports the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He stressed that the Republic of France will continue to stand by Bosnia and Herzegovina in the process of integration into the European Union and NATO.

A special part of the talks was dedicated to the implementation of the Resolution on the International Day of Remembrance and Commemoration of the Srebrenica Genocide in 1995, which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2024.

Bećirović thanked the Republic of France for its support in its adoption and stressed the importance of continuing joint work on the fight against genocide denial, the promotion of a culture of remembrance and the full implementation of the Resolution, the statement said.
