Swiss chocolate bar Toblerone with dark chocolate in a 360-gram package is being discontinued, which has saddened those who love this type of chocolate.
A spokesman for the American company Mondelez, which owns Toblerone, recalled that this chocolate has been produced for 56 years and admitted that the aforementioned decision may be disappointing for some. No reason was given for this decision, and it had previously promised to continue investing in Toblerone.
Before the decision to discontinue it, citizens in the United Kingdom noticed that it was difficult to find Toblerone with dark chocolate in stores, which is why it was already assumed that it would no longer be produced. However, it turned out that it will not be available in the rest of the world either, writes the Independent newspaper.
As a reminder, two years ago Mondelez removed the famous Swiss mountain Matterhorn from the packaging of Toblerone, that is, it installed a modernized logo of the mountain. The bear and the signature of one of the creators of this chocolate bar, Theodor Toblerone, have been retained.
This happened due to the relocation of part of the production of this chocolate from Switzerland to Slovakia.
Namely, Swiss national symbols cannot be used to promote something that is not produced exclusively in Switzerland. The sale of Toblerone began in 1908 in Bern.
