The tourist season in Neum is at its beginning, guests from various parts of the world are already on the coast of Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, slightly colder weather disrupted the plans of many who planned to spend the weekend in the only BiH city on the sea. Those we found say that despite the cold weather, Neum always meets their expectations.
Nikola Prkačin, director of the Neum Tourist Board, spoke about whether everything is ready for another season in Neum in Dnevnik 2.
According to him, this year’s pre-season saw an increase in the number of tourists who visited Neum by about 20% compared to previous seasons. Prkačin expects this trend to continue in the main tourist season, and to get excellent results in the rest of the year.
He also points out that this only Bosnian city on the sea is visited by tourists from all parts of the world, and that currently there are most of them from France, the Benelux countries, South Korea, Poland, and Slovenia.
“For May Day, we had the most visitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina. We expect an increase in the number of tourists from our country after the end of the school year. On weekends, we have seminars, congresses, international gatherings, so we are very satisfied with the course of the season so far,” says Prkačin.
When it comes to prices, he says that those in Neum have been slightly corrected – as much as was necessary, but that this city is still very competitive when compared to other destinations in the area.
“Neum currently offers the best price-quality ratio in this part of the Adriatic,” says Prkačin.
Regarding accommodation capacity, according to official data, Neum offers around 6,000 beds, but Prkačin believes that this number is significantly higher, and he points out that the Tourist Board will work in the coming period to introduce as many people as possible into the system so that the data is as relevant as possible for creating a city development strategy.
