Trams Return to Ilidza After Service Interruption

From Sunday evening, trams are running on line 3 Ilidža – Baščaršija. The new turnpike on Ilidža welcomed its first passengers at 18:30.

Work on the reconstruction of the tram turn, which was carried out as part of the Ilidža – Hrasnica tram line construction project, has largely been completed. In the coming period, additional works will be carried out at the stop and in the turnstile area, but the tram will operate according to a temporary traffic regime. This is the first reconstruction of this turntable since its construction in the sixties.

“Extremely demanding work on the turnpike on Ilidža. After decades, we got a completely new turnpike. I would like to thank all the project participants for their efforts, and the citizens for all the comments we received during the implementation of the project, as well as the understanding and patience they had due to the change in transportation and transfer habits we had. May the new turnpike serve us all well and make us proud. We are one step closer to our goal and the moment when the tram will pass on the new line to Hrasnica,” said the Minister of Transport of the Canton Sarajevo Adnan Steta.

Although the works on the turnpike were carried out as part of the new tram line construction project, their scope and complexity can also be seen as a separate project. During the reconstruction, property and legal relations were resolved and four buildings were removed, a new track structure was built, the contact network was renewed, drainage was arranged, and a new tram stop was built, where finishing works will be carried out in the coming period.

Also, the traffic light at the roundabout on Ilidža, which was not in operation before, is in operation from tonight, and the Ministry of Transport of the Sarajevo Canton appeals to all road users to respect traffic regulations, and requests all pedestrians not to move along the tram line. The contractor with supervision and the Ministry thanks the citizens for the patience and understanding they showed during the execution of the works.
