Donald Trump, the 78-year-old US president, said he was “in great shape” after undergoing his annual medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Hospital near Washington. The official medical report is expected on Sunday.
Trump said the results were good after the examination, stressing that he has a “good heart and a very good soul.” In addition to the heart examination, he said he had also undergone a cognitive test, alluding to the physical and mental state of his political opponent Joe Biden.
During the election campaign, he often questioned Biden’s ability to perform the presidential duties, due to his age and increasingly noticeable difficulties with speech and movement. Trump claims that he passed the cognitive test with excellent results, but did not reveal details.
Although he does not drink alcohol or smoke, Trump is known for his penchant for fast food and soda. His previous health report dates back to November 2023, when his doctor wrote a brief letter stating that he was in “excellent health” and had lost weight – without providing specifics.
Unlike Trump, Biden has regularly released detailed health reports during his term, including lab results and a list of medications.
Trump has previously been criticized for his lack of transparency, particularly during the final months of his first term, when he was hospitalized with COVID-19.
