US President Donald Trump has said that “one way or another” the Strait of Hormuz will soon be “open, safe and free”.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, he said he hoped that China, France, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom would send warships to the key shipping lane so that it no longer poses a threat because of Iran.

Trump added that a number of countries would send warships to keep the key waterway “open and safe”.

At the same time, he said that the United States would “intensely bombard the coast and continue to sink Iranian boats and ships”.

He also claimed that the United States had “destroyed 100 percent of Iran’s military capabilities”, but added that Iran could still “easily use drones, mines and short-range missiles”.

Iran’s representative in Geneva, Ali Bahrani, rejected Trump’s claims that Iran’s military capabilities had been eliminated, calling them “fabricated and false claims.”
