Officers of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton (TC) increased traffic controls during April and seized 46 cars due to driver debts for unpaid fines totaling more than 600 thousand BAM.
As stated by the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of TC, their officers, during enhanced traffic control focused on repeat offenders in committing violations under the Law on Basics of Traffic Safety on the Roads in Bosnia and Herzegovina(BiH), seized a total of 46 vehicles during the month of April.
They explained that the vehicles were seized after checks through official records and by reviewing the register of unpaid monetary fines, with total debts amounting to more than 600 thousand BAM.
“The on-duty judges of the competent municipal courts have been informed about the actions taken, and police officers continue their work on documenting violations and implementing legal measures with the aim of improving the safety of all road users in TC,” stated the cantonal police.
As they added, during the past weekend, enhanced traffic control was carried out in TC with an emphasis on checking drivers for alcohol consumption.
On that occasion, 108 drivers were sanctioned due to the determined presence of alcohol in their system, of which 20 were held in custody until sobering up in the holding facilities of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of TC (due to a blood alcohol concentration higher than 1.5 grams per kilogram of body weight), and 92 driver’s licenses were temporarily seized.
In the upcoming period, such and similar planned activities aimed at raising the level of general safety of citizens will continue.
