Members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić and Denis Bećirović received yesterday the High Representative for BiH Christian Schmidt, with whom they discussed reforms on the Euro-Atlantic path of BiH, especially in the context of the European Commission’s recommendation on granting BiH candidate status, which is an incentive to the BiH authorities for further engagement in achieving reforms.

As it was said, Bosnia and Herzegovina has important weeks ahead of it, high-level meetings with EU bodies and expectations are that positive decisions will be made for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s path towards the EU, which will also be an encouragement to the citizens that a European perspective is possible.

The OHR has an important role to play in building a democratic and legal state that is rapidly moving towards the EU. It was added that the standards of respect for democracy in the EU should also be applied in Bosnia and Herzegovina, bearing in mind the positive messages and recommendations for the candidate status of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina Schmidt wished the members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina a successful mandate and expressed the expectation that cooperation with the OHR will be the topic of future meetings, the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
