“The new hydro power plant will be placed near the existing one, about 50 meters downstream. It is hard to talk about the dynamics of the works considering the fact that both “Spreca” and Elektroprivreda BiH are public companies and they have to comply with the Law on Public Procurements,” said the Director of Spreca, Suad Hasanovic.
“The value of this project was estimated at 2 million BAM. We have entered the project with the preparation of technical documentation, and now we are negotiating around the amount of revenues that will be realized. It is difficult to say when the project will be finalized but I believe that the small hydro power plant “Modrac 2″ will be put into operation in the next two years,” stated Hasanovic.
The first mini hydro power plant at Modrac Lake was put into operation back in 1998 and its installed power capacity is between 257 and 1,998 kilowatts (kW).
The new mini hydro-power plant, according to the approval issued by the Regulatory Commission for Electricity in FBiH (FERK), should have the power of 584 kW and the annual production is estimated at 1 GB of electrical energy.
