On the first day of the Balkan Judo Championship for U14 competitors, which is held in Bitola, the representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina won two silver medals. Both medals for our country were won by the competitors of the “Braća Lukač” Judo Club, Adna Lukač and Ali Babić.
After four excellent performances and the same number of victories, Adna Lukač won her place in the finals of the category up to 44 kilograms. On the way to the final, the young BiH judoka defeated Hristina Borisova (Bulgaria), Hatice Kurt (Turkey), and secured her place in the final with a triumph over Cagla Maltepe, another representative of Turkey. Unfortunately, she was defeated in the final by the representative of Moldova, Beatrice Herta.
Ali Babić in the category up to 55 kilograms confirmed his excellent form from several previous tournaments for younger ages.
“Defeats in the finals never come easily, especially in competitions like the Balkan Championship, where only the best from the region come. However, two silvers from such a strong and high-quality tournament are a reason for satisfaction, but also an indicator of quality work in our club,” said Eldin Lukač, one of the founders and coaches of the “Braća Lukač” Judo Club.
In the first round of the competition, the talented judoka from Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated the Montenegrin Aleksi Bratić, and then he also defeated the Romanian representative Gabriel Marina Iannis, in order to secure his appearance in the final by defeating Hamza Ayan from Turkey. Babić lost to the Turkish representative, Mehmet Talha Oruc, in the fight for the best medal.
The Balkan Judo Championship for U14 competitors, which will feature a total of 48 competitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, ends today.
