The US Ambassador to BiH Patrick Moon said today that Višegrad has a big development opportunity in the area of tourism, confirmed the mayor Zdravko Žuža.
“We have informed the US Ambassador about the available tourist resources in Višegrad, including Andrićgrad and the Mehmed-paše Sokolovića bridge that is found on the World Heritage list of UNESCO, and which will soon be fundamentally redesigned’’, said Žuža.
According to him, Moon is interested in the narrow-gauge railway in the direction of Višegrad – Mokra Gora and the flow of tourism that would follow this project.
They also discussed the return status of those who he assessed would pose no obstacles for the realization of the project.
During the visit, Ambassador Moon first met with members of the non-profit organization “Nove Nade” (New Hopes) and spoke with the President Milo Gračanin.
Moon said that he chose the first visit to “New Hope” due to good cooperation that this organization has with the US Embassy.
“I am aware of how strong you are and how much you do so that BiH develops into a democratic society. Unfortunately in this country not much importance is attached to the civil society sector that has the potential to make a lot of changes in BiH’’, said Moon to the Mayor.
Moon promised to lend support for next projects that “Nove Nade” implements in BiH related to the development of democracy.
