A US military plane carrying eight people crashed on Wednesday near Japan.
Japan’s coast guard said the Osprey plane crashed off the coast of Yakushima Island in southwestern Japan, Tokyo-based Kyodo News reports.
The Coast Guard announced that it was notified of the accident at around 2:45 p.m. local time.
Media reports say that the wreckage of the plane has probably been found near the crash site, but there is no word yet on the fate of the passengers.
