US President Donald Trump will host his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Washington on Thursday for the first time since 2019.
The visit is expected to focus on bilateral trade and military deals, including the possible delivery of US fighter jets to Turkey.
Current global crises such as the war in Gaza and Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine are also likely to be on the agenda.
Turkey, a NATO member, maintains good relations with both Moscow and Kiev. Regarding the war in Gaza, Ankara has repeatedly criticized Israel’s actions.
