The US Government, through the US Agency for International Development (USAID), led a delegation of public institutions and the tourism sector of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Jordan, to promote Bosnia and Herzegovina on a potential key tourist market and gather knowledge about the extremely booming tourism industry of Jordan.
During the nine-day tour, from March 15 to 24, representatives of the USAID Developing Sustainable Tourism Project in Bosnia and Herzegovina promoted the tourist attractions of Bosnia and Herzegovina to 20 leading Jordanian tour operators at an event jointly organized by Turkish Airlines, the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FTC BiH), the Tourism Board of the Sarajevo Canton (Visit Sarajevo) and the Jordan Society of Tourism & Travel Agents (JSTA).
“After learning about Bosnia and Herzegovina’s beautiful landscapes, rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality, I will be glad to start working on bringing Jordanian tourists to Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Sultan M. Batayneh, managing partner of Nashmi Travel.
He added that he is convinced that Bosnia and Herzegovina has great potential to become a key tourist market for Jordanian travelers.
USAID Tourism helps build the tourism brand of Bosnia and Herzegovina in strategic markets around the world, encouraging more tourists to visit BiH, and creating quality jobs in BiH tourism and service sectors. With its impressive natural beauty, cuisine and culture, Bosnia and Herzegovina can be an inspiring and attractive destination for travelers from Jordan and other Eastern Mediterranean countries.
The US Government has also provided significant support to Jordan’s tourism industry, beginning in the 1960s, when USAID restored key sites at the now-famous archaeological site of Petra. Today, tourism is a vital sector for the economy of Jordan and is a positive example of how to successfully develop tourism as a driver of sustainable economic growth, USAID announced.
